Official Tribal Announcement

Message to the Tribal Membership

Honorable greetings to all Tribal Members as we enter the new year. It is our hope that this season has brought peace, strength, and renewal to your families, and that 2026 begins in good health and unity for our people.

As we move forward into the coming year, the Tribal Administration is preparing for scheduled events and important matters affecting the membership. We are honored to announce that Myrtle Phillips of Grand Bayou has graciously offered to sponsor an Easter gathering for our children. This marks a meaningful opportunity, as it has been several years since the Tribe has been able to host an event of this nature. Planning is currently underway, and official notices will be issued once the date, time, and location have been finalized.

Members are respectfully reminded that 2026 is an election year for the Tribal Administration. Any enrolled Tribal Member who wishes to seek election against their current Tribal Council representative must submit a formal written notice of intent to Chief Jed Duhon. This process allows adequate time for ballots to be prepared, printed, and distributed in accordance with tribal procedures.

In recent months, the Tribal Administration has also faced ongoing challenges related to Medicaid healthcare coverage for Tribal Members. We are actively awaiting updated guidance and any changes to eligibility criteria. As new information becomes available, it will be communicated promptly to ensure transparency and awareness among the membership.

On behalf of Chief Jed Duhon and the Tribal Council, we extend our sincere wishes for a year guided by wisdom, strength, and unity. May the coming months bring continued protection, good health, and blessings to our people, our families, and the generations yet to come.
